Kyo-no-oto Koke-iro (苔色) No.03 is a soft, earthy moss green ink inspired by the moss-covered trees and garden stones found throughout Kyoto's traditional gardens.
The name Koke-iro means "moss colour", and the shade reflects the understated beauty of moss that has gradually grown over old stone and wood. It's a wonderfully natural, muted green with a quiet character that works particularly well for everyday writing, journaling, lettering and illustration.
Part of the Kyo-no-oto range from TAG STATIONERY in Kyoto, these inks reinterpret traditional Japanese colours, drawing inspiration from Kyoto's long history of dyeing and colour-making. The range was developed in collaboration with the Kyoto Plant Dyeing Research Institute.
As a dye-based ink, Koke-iro has a lovely tendency to create subtle variations in colour as it spreads across the paper. Because the ink is water-soluble, you can also experiment with a water brush to soften, blur or dilute the colour for different effects.
The ink can be used with fountain pens, dip pens, glass pens and brushes, making it particularly versatile for both writing and creative work.
